Abstract

The present investigation obtained the results of the diagnosis of demographic growth and environmental impacts in the parish of Andrés de Vera del Canton Portoviejo. This support was mainly based on the determination of population growth in the years 1990, 2001, 2010 and 2016, by means of the geographical method using the formula P = Po (1 + r) t, resulting in an annual rate that varies according to the investigated periods of the year 1990 to 2001 the population increase was 1.83% equivalent to 12,267 inhabitants and in the years 2010 to 2016 the annual growth rate is 1.92% equivalent to 12,663 people; Likewise, through the environmental diagnosis it was possible to identify 45 negative alterations found in this Parish resulting from anthropogenic activities, which could be obtained through a 2-week consecutive journey using the empirical-analytical method, since it addresses the reality of the facts that are observable, quantifiable and measurable, and the observation technique, where the global positioning system - GPS was used to have the corresponding UTM coordinates of each alteration, therefore the environmental evaluation is carried out through the matrix of aspect and environmental impacts obtaining four significant impacts (table N°5) caused by different aspects that alter the natural factors (air, water and soil), and three non-significant impacts (table N°6). It is stressed that the effects are prompted by the exponential increase of the population, which has repercussions on inadequate environmental practices that generate impacts, which through the implementation of the Environmental Action Plan can be remedied; This proposal is viable because of the benefits to reduce, recover, monitor and mitigate aspects and impacts selected for the short and medium term.
