Synergies between agriculture, agrotourism and hospitality: A sustainable model of territorial development

This review paper examines recent scientific production on the relationship between agriculture, agritourism and hospitality, with special attention to their role in sustainable rural development. The literature reviewed includes empirical studies, model analysis and bibliometric syntheses that explore multiple dimensions of this phenomenon. Trends are identified in the scientific literature that involve topics such as community perception of tourism-oriented agricultural initiatives, intersectoral integration in microregions, bibliometric analysis of research patterns, and the economic and social effects of visitor-oriented experiences in rural environments. Evidence-based articles show that agrotourism and related activities can support the preservation of traditional agricultural practices, foster local economic opportunities, and contribute to social cohesion. Other studies suggest conceptual models to link agriculture, hospitality, and tourism in specific territories, with indicators that help structure policies with an impact on multiple actors. This critical analysis highlights the growing scientific production on these topics and offers a general framework for researchers and practitioners interested in strategies that promote rural development with a productive and service orientation, in addition to identifying emerging areas that deserve future attention.
