Abstract

The objective of this work was to determine the prevalence of bovine brucellosis (Brucella abortus) in production systems through a narrative literature review. A literature review was conducted, focusing on analyzing the prevalence of bovine brucellosis caused by Brucella abortus in different production systems. The review was carried out in scientific databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and SciELO, covering publications from 2015 to 2025. Key terms such as "bovine brucellosis," "Brucella abortus," "prevalence," and "production systems" were used. Studies from different production contexts and geographic regions were selected, as well as those that showed significant differences in seroprevalence rates. The results showed that the most frequently used tests for diagnosing the disease were serological tests, such as Rose Bengal, ELISA, and immunofluorescence. However, the authors note that these tests still have limitations in their accuracy and that their application depends on the availability of resources and the technical capacity of laboratories. The prevalence of the disease is closely related to deficiencies in animal movement control, vaccination, and health education for producers. Therefore, these findings highlight the importance of strengthening public policies and promoting the implementation of a regulatory-based outreach program for the prevention and control of the disease. This will make it possible to reduce the impact of brucellosis on livestock and protect the health of rural communities.
