Resumen

Este trabajo de revisión examina la producción científica reciente sobre la relación entre la agricultura, el agroturismo y la hotelería, con especial atención a su rol en el desarrollo rural sostenible. La literatura revisada abarca estudios empíricos, análisis de modelos y síntesis bibliométricas que exploran múltiples dimensiones de este fenómeno. Se identifican tendencias en la literatura científica que involucran temas como la percepción comunitaria de iniciativas agrarias orientadas al turismo, la integración intersectorial en microregiones, análisis bibliométricos de patrones de investigación y los efectos económicos y sociales de experiencias orientadas a visitantes en entornos rurales. Artículos diversos muestran que el agroturismo y actividades relacionadas pueden apoyar la preservación de prácticas agrícolas tradicionales, fomentar oportunidades económicas locales y contribuir a la cohesión social. Otros estudios sugieren modelos conceptuales para vincular agricultura, hospitalidad y turismo en territorios específicos, con indicadores que ayudan a estructurar políticas con impacto en actores múltiples. Este análisis crítico evidencia la creciente producción científica sobre estos temas y ofrece un marco general para investigadores y profesionales interesados en estrategias que promueven desarrollo rural con orientación productiva y de servicios, además de identificar áreas emergentes que merecen atención futura.

Abstract

This review paper examines recent scientific production on the relationship between agriculture, agritourism and hospitality, with special attention to their role in sustainable rural development. The literature reviewed includes empirical studies, model analysis and bibliometric syntheses that explore multiple dimensions of this phenomenon. Trends are identified in the scientific literature that involve topics such as community perception of tourism-oriented agricultural initiatives, intersectoral integration in microregions, bibliometric analysis of research patterns, and the economic and social effects of visitor-oriented experiences in rural environments. Evidence-based articles show that agrotourism and related activities can support the preservation of traditional agricultural practices, foster local economic opportunities, and contribute to social cohesion. Other studies suggest conceptual models to link agriculture, hospitality, and tourism in specific territories, with indicators that help structure policies with an impact on multiple actors. This critical analysis highlights the growing scientific production on these topics and offers a general framework for researchers and practitioners interested in strategies that promote rural development with a productive and service orientation, in addition to identifying emerging areas that deserve future attention.
