Abstract

Currently, gender equality and equity have acquired an important relevance, which although they have a very similar definition, do not mean the same thing. It is evident that the perception of people will always be different, however, one must move towards a system in which the person manages to keep his mind more open to inclusion and the right to equal opportunities, not only in public institutions, but also promote it as a human right and as an engine of social development. An investigation with a mixed quantitative-qualitative approach was carried out, because surveys and interviews were applied to professors who have held and have not held hierarchical positions at the Technical University of Ambato (UTA), Ecuador. It is evident that a high percentage of women perceive that due to the gender condition there are obstacles to growing academically and professionally.
