Gender-based violence is a public health problem that mainly affects women and has significant social and health repercussions. The objective of this study was to analyze the prevalence of gender-based violence and attitudes towards this problem in medical students of the National University of Loja during the period September 2025-February 2026. A quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional research was carried out in 225 students, through the application of two validated questionnaires. The results showed a moderate prevalence of gender-based violence of 19.56% and a high prevalence of 1.78%. Women had the highest percentages of moderate (14.67%) and high (1.33%) violence, while the 18 to 20 age group concentrated the highest proportion of cases (50.22%). Regarding attitudes towards situations of gender violence, non-sexist positions (53.33%) predominated, followed by slightly sexist (27.56%) and moderately sexist (12%). It is concluded that, although non-sexist attitudes predominate, manifestations of gender violence persist in the population studied, which shows the need to strengthen prevention and awareness strategies in the university environment
