GLOBALIZATION AND SOCIAL WORK INTERVENTION

Abstract

The objective of this research was to identify whether globalization influences social work interventions. This is in response to the problem: that globalization, as a capitalist economic model, has increased technological, intellectual, and industrial advances, among others, and has created a significant gap between the rich and the poor. Social work has become an accomplice to the system. The research was based on a quantitative, descriptive study, analyzing the criteria of a specific sample of social workers with similar characteristics and university professors. A survey with 14 questions on a Likert scale was administered. The information obtained was entered into SPSS software. Friedman's nonparametric test was applied, yielding a significance level of 0.377; rejecting the null hypothesis and accepting, with a 5% margin of error, the criterion of the twelve social workers who maintain that globalization influences social work interventions. Concluding that globalization, characterized by the concentration of capital, beyond its benefits, plunges the poor into extreme poverty. This aspect is understood as modern slavery. This prevailing situation demands the intervention of disciplines such as Social Work to maintain the same system with the motto: welcome to globalization
