Historical and sociocultural characterization of El Carmen canton: a hermeneutic exercise

Abstract

This work aims to carry out a description, understanding and interpretation of the main historical and sociocultural characteristics of the El Carmen canton (Manabí-Ecuador). In parallel to the description of the object of study, such information is processed through the hermeneutical method. As a result of this exercise, a set of features of the studied object is obtained that configure a discourse that crosses the entire social body and that, consequently, legitimize a series of values and attitudes that are incorporated in the processes of social integration.
