IMPACT OF VULNERABILITY AND SOCIAL RISK ON THE ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS OF WOMEN IN THE VILCABAMBA PARISH, ECUADOR

Abstract

The social risk resulting from situations or conditions of vulnerability deepens inequality every day, plunging women into generational poverty that is difficult to overcome. The objective was to analyze the vulnerability and social risk of women in the parish of Vilcabamba, Ecuador, and its relationship with entrepreneurial skills. The study was exploratory and descriptive, employing a quantitative approach through a survey administered to 30 women. The results show no relationship between vulnerability and entrepreneurial skills; more than half of the women are heads of household belonging to single-parent families, and the majority live in poverty with irregular incomes below the minimum wage. The repercussions of this situation generally imply the perpetuation of generational cycles of the feminization of poverty. Specific and technical support is needed to develop their potential and improve their economic situation. as well as the creation of spaces for accountability and joint work with local authorities and the financial sector that addresses needs and promotes human and economic development, since the main factors that prevent women from organizing and carrying out entrepreneurial projects are the lack of capital, family and government support
