Abstract

This article carries out a study to understand the areas of development of the Graphic Design Program at the Escuela Superior Politecnica de Chimborazo, ESPOCH. Substantial information was collected from key players such as graduates, companies, and experts; information that is considered necessary for the construction of a prospective study of this program. This work has a cauliflower-quantitative approach to the study variables; using a descriptive method, the survey analyzes the current situation of the professional profile of the graphic designer in the labor market, emphasizing the area in which they operate and the demands of the application of hard and soft skills to be developed by this professional. It was developed in two phases: the first is the diagnostic phase in which an external analysis is carried out in which information is collected from graduates of the program, social and productive organizations (employers), and experts in the area of ​​​​competence; in the second phase, the results are obtained and the trends and fields of competences that a professional in the area of ​​​​graphic design must develop were identified.
