Children and diversity: an approach from social intervention with the families of children and adolescents of a foundation

This research aims to analyze the family environment of children and adolescents of the Cattleya Foundation in the city of Manta, Ecuador, in the period 2019-2020, with the main axis of identifying the problems faced by children with diversity sexual. The methodological design consisted of interviews applied to parents of minors welcomed by the foundation, as well as a multidisciplinary team of professionals from Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, History and Anthropology. The analysis and understanding of the information obtained was carried out using the qualitative approach with descriptive and deductive methodology, which allowed to clear theories and criteria about the situation and experience of individuals. It is for this reason that the need arose to carry out a study of this type, with a proposal that allows addressing the issue from Social Work, in order to generate intervention proposals that consider children in the immediate future. and adolescents with sexual diversity in a transversal way, in order to objectify perceptions that contribute, as far as possible, to the vision of this group, which is based mainly on respect for their rights. Analyzing the family circle of the foundation's children and adolescents, a strengthened environment was visible regarding how they were at the beginning, because spaces for internal family dialogue and reparation were created.
