Abstract

The present research work focused on the problem of academic performance, since it is considered one of the main problems in the field of education. Its main objective was to identify the influence of family support on the academic performance of high school students of the “Jorge Sánchez Moreno” Educational Unit, Macara/Loja. The research used the review of bibliographic sources and its study combined qualitative and quantitative methodologies that respond to an interpretative paradigm, with a correlational research level, where the relationship between family accompaniment and academic performance was analyzed. The results obtained and their discussion were fundamental for the understanding of the real problems of the study group and for the fulfillment of the proposed objectives. The information obtained was analyzed by means of the PSPP statistical tool. The importance of this study is highlighted in order to suggest the design and implementation of a social action proposal that contributes to address family accompaniment in the Educational Unit with the purpose of improving the academic performance of high school students
