Abstract

In the current technology related to Business Intelligence, data mining is the process of extracting information from different sources, analyzing it and presenting it in tables or reports that help the company to better understand the data and through these the operations carried out within the organization, thus obtaining relevant statistics for better decision making in the administrative field. According to what has been mentioned about this technology, we propose the design and implementation of a management reporting system based on data warehouses, for the grading process of the Academic Management System of the Universidad Laica Eloy Alfaro de Manabí. The proposed reporting system is developed through the Ralph Kimball methodology that provides an empirical basis for the implementation of data warehouses, the project will be built through the design and development of a data warehouse through Transformation, Extraction and Loading (ETL) techniques, This will later allow the elaboration of data cubes that will be used to lighten the load of the Academic Management System and to deduce relevant information to obtain the necessary reports to improve decision making in the grading process of the Universidad Laica Eloy Alfaro de Manabí.
