Abstract

The study focuses on the life quality on people from Ecuador with physical disabilities, in order to highlight how important is to comprehend and promote this aspect in their welfare, recognizing the persistent challenges despite the legal advances, therefore it has been adopted the biopsychosocial model of disability and the inclusive approach of Schalock & Verdugo. The main objective was to determine the changes using the GENCAT scale and evaluate the impact of the individual program for the development skills of people with physical disabilities. The research design was non-experimental, descriptive and quantitative. The sample included 300 people with physical disabilities from the city of Loja, randomly selected. The results, obtained with the Wilcoxon signed rank test, showed significant differences between the moments evaluated in all dimensions and the total GENCAT score. It was been observed setbacks in some cases, improvements in the majority and stability in others. In conclusion, the AHC project and the individual approach for the development of abilities has been effective to improve the life quality of people with physical disabilities, as a result it is recommended to continue its process and adaption for future interventions.
