INTERVENTION OF THE SOCIAL WORKER IN THE ONCOLOGICAL AREA OF THE SOLCA PORTOVIEJO HOSPITAL

The importance of developing this study was due to the importance of the social worker's functions with cancer patients and their families in the treatment process they must undergo when they are diagnosed with this disease. The topic of this article was called "intervention of the Social Worker in the oncological area of the Solca Portoviejo Hospital. The methodology implemented was of qualitative approach through the application of the interview to key informants such as the Social Worker and head of the medical area of the Solca Portoviejo Hospital because with the professional experience they have in the oncological area they socialized the processes and guidelines they execute to guarantee quality treatment to cancer patients, five cancer users were also considered who, with their perceptions, corroborated the purpose proposed in this research. It was possible to verify the argument of this scientific article based on the intervention carried out by the Social Worker from the beginning of the treatment of patients, especially in the accompaniment and direction on the actions to follow, but above all in the sensitization to the family about the importance of not abandoning them in this struggle, due to the significant positive influence they have on their relatives. To conclude the care of cancer patients, it must be approached from a multidisciplinary work for the holistic analysis of the problems they present and be intervened in an integral way to guarantee an optimal treatment and recovery in them
