Abstract

The consumption of psychotropic substances has become, in a global health problem, particularly in Ecuador; it is presented by multifactorial factors and more frequently in young people. The refore, this research allows to identify the main factors that influence young users of psychotropic substances in addiction centers. The study was developed in the city of Cuenca-Ecuador in two centers: Psychological Specialties and Psychotherapy "Exitus" and Therapeutic Center of Rehabilitation Love and Life "Centeravid". The research approach was carried out with the same quantitative, the descriptive method was used to specify the properties and describe trends of the group investigated, the technique used was the survey that helped in the collection of information, in addition to working with the entire universe. The main results were: that friends directly influence consumption, intrafamily violence is one of the factors that causes this problem, in addition to relationships with their partners or courtship. Regarding the knowledge of the damage that these cause, the majority indicates that they know its consequences. Finally, the conclusions established that young people, being a vulnerable group, are more prone to the consumption of psychotropic substances of different kinds that cause a public health problem.
