SOCIAL RISK AND AUTONOMY OF OLDER ADULTS WHO COMO TO CENTRO DE SALUD GIRÓN

Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze social risk and its association with the autonomy of older adults through documentary analysis, the association between variables and the development of an intervention proposal. The aging process represents the last stage of development of the human being, in this period a series of physical, psychological and biological changes occur as a result of cellular senescence of the living organism, which is expressed in the reduction of functional capacity and increased demands for care. The present study employs a mixed methodology and deductive and inductive methods that guide the development of a non-experimental study. The information was collected by means of surveys with validated scales, Barthel and Gijón. The data collected were entered into a database from which statistical analysis was performed, summarizing the information in simple distribution tables showing frequency and percentage. The results show that the greater the social risk (intermediate or high), the greater the loss of functionality in older adults. This denotes the importance of these variables to promote an active and healthy aging based on sociodemographic considerations that older adults of the Girón canton live, since the social and economic condition determines the degree of vulnerability of these individuals to continue doing informal work to subsist. The proposed intervention plan will facilitate the approach, follow-up and intervention according to the needs of this population.
