PROMOTION OF RIGHTS, INCLUSION AND MIGRATION: HUMAN MOBILITY PROJECT AND THE ROLE OF THE SOCIAL WORKER

Abstract

Venezuelan migration to Ecuador has represented a significant social challenge, particularly in cities like Loja. This research was based on the need to guarantee the rights and social inclusion of migrants, highlighting the role of social workers in this process. The objective was to analyze how the promotion of rights impacts the social inclusion of Venezuelan migrants who are beneficiaries of the Human Mobility Project of the Provincial Government of Loja. An exploratory-descriptive methodology with a mixed approach was applied, utilizing surveys of heads of households, interviews with social workers, and participant observation. The results showed that 92% of respondents were aware of their rights, and 57% had regularized their status, reflecting progress in social integration processes. Likewise, the participation of social workers was identified as key in training, support, and inter-institutional coordination that promotes access to health, education, decent employment, and housing. The promotion of rights is consolidated as a fundamental pillar of social integration, allowing the migrant population not only to access services but also to actively engage in their surroundings. It is concluded that the work of the Social Worker strengthens inclusion processes and reduces the vulnerability of this population through a comprehensive intervention that considers the individual, the family, and the community.
