Abstract

The article analyzes Social Work, from a critical and emancipatory approach, which plays a key role in the prevention of gender-based violence by highlighting the differentiated experiences of men and women in their interactions with the state, family, and social welfare systems promoted by public policies. This study aims to analyze the social intervention in the prevention of gender-based violence based on the experience of ULEAM in 2024. To this end, a qualitative methodology was used, which included interviews with three social workers from the student welfare area, a psychiatrist, two general practitioners, and university professors. The results revealed that students who were better informed and more committed to the issue showed greater empowerment and a deeper understanding of their rights, as a result of the workshops and educational activities organized at the university. These initiatives significantly contributed to fostering an environment of respect and support within the campus. In conclusion, social intervention in the prevention of gender-based violence at the university has shown notable progress through the implementation of policies, programs, and support services, along with the integration of institutional protocols. These actions have favored the creation of a safer and more inclusive environment, promoting gender equality and respect for women, thus consolidating a violence-free university culture.
