Cognitive Behavioral Intervention Plan to promote stress management in doctors

Medical personnel work under conditions marked by emotional burden and demands that involve numerous responsibilities and, at times, intense challenges. Consequently, they experience stress levels that, if not properly managed, could negatively impact their physical and mental health. This research aimed to design a Cognitive-Behavioral Intervention Plan to enhance stress management among medical personnel at the Jipijapa Health Center. To achieve this, a non-experimental/cross-sectional design was adopted, with a quantitative approach and a descriptive scope. The methods applied in this study included literature review, inductive-deductive and analysis-synthesis. For evaluation purposes, the Perceived Stress Scale and the Stress Coping Questionnaire (CAE) were used, administered to 16 doctors. The findings revealed that all participants experience high levels of stress, with impairments in situational control affecting 33.33% of them. The most frequently used coping strategy was positive reappraisal (20.48%), followed by avoidance (18.46%). A cognitive-behavioral intervention plan is proposed, focusing on cognitive, emotional, and behavioral dimensions to develop adaptive coping skills, reduce dysfunctional thoughts related to stress, and promote the emotional well-being of doctors, enabling them to manage stress effectively. The proposal was evaluated by experts, who deemed it relevant and appropriate for addressing the identified issues.
