PHYSICAL-MECANIC CHARACTERIZATION OF THE ANGUSTIFOLIA KUNTH GUADUA IN THREE CANTONS OF MANABI PROVINCE

Among the most characteristic materials for construction in Manabí is the Guadua Angustifolia Kunth (GaK), however, the amount of data regarding its properties physical and mechanical are limited the same as evidenced in the NEC-SE-GUADUA. In this research, characterization tests of the physical-mechanical properties were carried out. For this we took samples of certain guaduales belonging to the cantons: Chone, Flavio Alfaro and The Carmen of the province of Manabí. Within the tests carried out to this material are: compression, tension, cutting (parallel to the fiber), and bending to four points, as well as density, moisture content and contraction, which follow the guidelines of the Colombian technical standard NTC 5525. The samples were prepared based on the conicity of the GaK stipulated in the Ecuadorian building standard. The results obtained in this research allowed to obtain effective parameters effective as a basis in the structural design of sustainable constructive systems and reference to future research.
