Abstract

The present investigation "Design of a pilot plant for the processing of plastic polymers (PET) in the fiscal educational circuit 13D02C01_02 of the Manta canton as a measure to reduce the environmental impact period 2018", was carried out considering the tax education units of this circuit. The main objective was to design a pilot plant for the processing of plastic polymers (PET), based on a socio- environmental management model. The methodology used was of the field type, through surveys and interviews; and of bibliographic type, for which information of the main theoretical sources was used, as well as of the legal part; current laws and regulations. It is concluded that the student population presents a high level of conceptual knowledge in terms of recycling, but not in habits, behaviors, and attitudes towards PET waste. In the evaluation, the level of affectation to the perceptual or landscape environment is high, and it was determined that the cultural level in the student population affects the treatment and disposal of PET waste (Polyethylene Terephthalate). In this context, the proposal was to develop a design of a pilot plant for the processing of these waste from a socio-environmental management model to contribute significantly to the solution of the problem of inadequate treatment of PET plastic bottles after consumption, generated within the fiscal institutions, reducing their impact on the environment in a tangible way.
