Abstract

This article addresses the need to strengthen the development of professional teacher identity among university students, given the existing limitations in integrating ethical, critical, and creative role models from the local teaching profession. The objective is to systematize the life stories of prominent figures in the local teaching profession as an innovative educational tool from a psychological perspective. Using a mixed-methods approach and the qualitative method of Life Histories, supported by exemplification workshops, the current state of identity formation in teacher education programs at the University of Oriente was diagnosed. Indicators were defined for selecting these figures, and three workshops were conducted focusing on Dr. Francisco Antonio Pérez Miró. The results demonstrate that the systematization of life stories allows for the reconstruction, analysis, and transfer of pedagogical legacies, fostering processes of identification, internalization of values, development of professional self-awareness, and strengthening of transformative social commitment in students. It is concluded that this tool enriches the psychological training of education professionals, promotes contextualized action models, and strengthens teacher identity from an ethical and humanistic perspective, revealing how the theoretical and practical contributions of prominent figures in the local teaching profession influence the development of the professional personality of educators in training.
