Abstract

The term active aging arose in the International Year of Older Persons (1999), when a partnership was established between the activity and the opportunities to be healthy during old age and highlighted the need to create and maintain opportunities for the elderly to remain active. Because population aging is one of humanity's greatest triumphs, but it is also one of its greatest challenges; The objective of this paper is to review the scientific literature that provides knowledge and relevant aspects about active aging and cognitive disorders that occur in older adults. Several findings that attract attention are detected and should be highlighted, such as the mild to moderate involvement of the cognitive area, as well as the demand for social interaction in older adults in order to improve their quality of life.
