Application of the TEACCH method to strengthen the autonomous skills of students with autism in specialized schools in the city of Manta during the period 2020-2022
Abstract
Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder characterized by severe and pervasive deficits in several areas of development: reciprocal social interaction skills, communication skills, and the presence of stereotyped behaviors, interests, and activities. TEACCH stands for "Treatment and Education of Children with Autism and Associated Communication Problems" and is a methodology designed for individuals with ASD (autism in any of its forms). The primary objective of specialized educational institutions is to help students with Special Educational Needs, both associated and non-associated with disabilities, achieve independence.
