Relación entre multitarea digital y funciones ejecutivas en jóvenes adultos ecuatorianos

Examinar la relación entre multitarea digital y funciones ejecutivas constituye una prioridad en neuropsicología contemporánea, el objetivo de este estudio fue analizar las asociaciones entre tiempo de multitarea digital y desempeño ejecutivo, establecer correlaciones entre variables de uso tecnológico y medidas neuropsicológicas, y comparar el funcionamiento ejecutivo entre grupos de uso digital diferenciado. Se implementó un diseño observacional correlacional comparativo con 80 jóvenes adultos entre 21-23 años, estratificados en grupos de uso digital restringido (menos de 2 horas diarias, n=40) e intensivo (más de 6 horas diarias, n=40). Los instrumentos incluyeron las baterías NEUROPSI, Wisconsin Card Sorting Test, y un Cuestionario de Multitarea Digital Adaptado. Los resultados evidenciaron correlaciones negativas significativas entre tiempo de multitarea digital y rendimiento ejecutivo, oscilando desde r = -.434 hasta r = -.567 (p < .001). Las comparaciones entre grupos revelaron diferencias significativas en todas las medidas neuropsicológicas, con valores F entre 28.94 y 71.45 (p < .001) y tamaños de efecto grandes (η²p = .270 a .478). El grupo de uso intensivo mostró menor rendimiento en atención sostenida, memoria de trabajo y flexibilidad cognitiva, además de mayor número de errores perseverativos. Los hallazgos confirman que la exposición intensiva a multitarea digital se asocia con deterioro en funciones ejecutivas en adultos jóvenes.
