Analysis of green areas and public Spaces in the Tarqui zone, and Urban Regeneration Proposal

Abstract

Manta stands out as one of the cities with the highest urban growth in Ecuador, facing numerous challenges in terms of development and planning. The rapid urbanization of recent decades has highlighted the lack of a clear vision for the city's future. This work addresses this issue by establishing strategic axes, defined based on a diagnosis of green areas, public spaces, and urban components of the area, to reinterpret them through a potential solution. Urban dynamics are improved with the creation of zones that act as activation points for commerce and recreation. Accessibility criteria are considered through the provision of urban furniture and tools that facilitate efficient use of public space by citizens. In terms of mobility, intervention in the road network and the configuration of the urban transportation system are proposed. Finally, landscaping focuses on the planning and design of green areas that contribute to the city's image and quality of life.
