Abstract

The essay presents the systematization of the experience of care and attention to early childhood by a public official, presented under the pseudonym María, who led the work of a Child Development Center (CDI) within one of the penitentiary centers operating in the city of Quito. At this center, specialized in receiving women deprived of liberty who are pregnant or have children up to 3 years of age, María accompanied the work of the educators; the experiences of the mothers; and the children development. The narrative, organized under these themes, was constructed from two open interviews lasting a total of 4 hours, with a discourse subsequently analyzed using the content analysis technique with the support of ATALAS.ti. The essay is presented as a narrative, argued and supported by scientific evidence and theory.
